  1. About  AOLWakeUp v0.2 -

  3.     General Info:
  4.         AOLWakeUp is a background application, which reads your "Online Database" file and checks the schedule which you have set for AOL to do unattended flashsessions.  Then it wakes up AOL so that it can start the flashsession.  This makes it harder to FORGET to start up AOL so it can run the flashsession. Like many people I rely on AOL for many different services and flashsessions are the easiest way to get my mail regularly.

  6. Installation:
  7.         Installing is very simple, just plop AOLWakeUp and AOLWakeUp Settings into your 
  8. AOL folder.  Double click on the AOLWakeUp settings icon and set your preferred settings. (See below for information on the AOLWakeUp Settings program.) Then double click on the AOLWakeUp icon.

  10. AOLWakeUp Settings:
  11.         Since AOLWakeUp is a background application, it cannot display any sort of user interface, so I have created an application called AOLWakeUp Settings so you can set preferences for AOLWakeUp.  Here are the choices that are available:

  13.         1. Load at StartUp:
  14.                         Selecting this loads AOLWakeUp at startup time.  It does this by placing an alias of AOLWakeUp in the StartUp folder.

  16.         2. Check Schedule only when plugged in:
  17.                         This feature only applies to PowerBooks and Portables, if you turn this option  on AOLWakeUp will not check the Online Database file for the next scheduled flashsession, unless your PowerBook or Portable is plugged in.  This saves you from wasting battery power and stops your hard drive from waking up every few minutes.

  19.         3. Don't load AOL in the background:
  20.                         Selecting this will cause AOL to load in the foreground.  There is no real advantage to doing this since you have to wait for AOL to load before you can go on doing other things.  However I included this for those people who wanted. Normally though AOLWakeUp will load AOL in the background, so you probably won't even notice.

  22.         4. Minutes between schedule checks:
  23.                         Set this to the number of minutes you want AOLWakeUp to periodically check and see if it is time for a scheduled event. It's best to set this between 1-5 and setting it for more than 15 minutes will cause AOLWakeUp to never load AOL at the appropriate time.

  26.   Changes from v0.1:

  28.         •AOLWakeUp is now a background application so it no longer shows up in the Application menu.

  30.         •User no longer needs to move the Online Database file into the same folder as AOLWakeUp.

  32.         •AOLWakeUp can now load AOL in the background.

  34.         •AOLWakeUp now checks to see if a PowerBook is plugged in before running a schedule check. (If user sets option above.)
